Job history of Bongani Zungu
Zungu assisted AmaTuks in their first season in the PSL when he transferred from Dynamos to the University of Pretoria at the beginning of the 2012–13 season. The team finished in the top eight. Zungu would be joining Mamelodi Sundowns in a trade deal, while Buhle Mkhwanazi and Siyabonga Ngubane would be joining University of Pretoria, it was confirmed towards the end of the season. [1]
Zungu missed up to twelve weeks of action after sustaining a hairline shin fracture in a 3-2 victory over Maritzburg United. Zungu received the best send-off possible from Sundowns, which won the PSL championship in May 2016 despite his missing the majority of the second half of the 2015–16 season. When Zungu’s contract expired at the end of the 2015–16 season, his agent Steve Kapeluschnik announced on January 20 that he would be joining Portuguese team Vitoria de Guimaraes. Zungu transferred to the French team Amiens after spending a season in Portugal.
In October 2020, Zungu agreed to a loan deal with Scottish club Rangers after leaving Amiens. In exchange for a £2.7 million transfer fee, Rangers obtained the option to acquire him permanently. He was one of five Rangers players who received a punishment from Scottish police in February 2021 “for attending an illegal gathering of 10 people in a flat” in violation of lockdown regulations during the UK’s COVID-19 epidemic. On August 17, 2013, Zungu made his debut for South Africa in a 20–0 victory over Burkina Faso. On November 15, 2013, against Swaziland, he scored his first goal for his country, which South Africa defeated 3-0.
