Early life of Masoja Msiza

Msiza was born in the community of Kwa-Thema in the Gauteng area of South Africa. When he was nine years old, he fell in love with acting and began taking theatre and art classes. He entered and won a theatrical competition at his school when he was 14 years old.[6] He worked as a miner after completing his education before getting sacked along with other miners who were engaged in a strike. After being fired, he made the decision to pursue his acting career, and Gibson Kente’s play “Mfowethu” was where he made his acting debut. [1]

Msiza started out as a poet before transitioning into acting on theatre and screen, music, and storytelling. He has acted in a number of well-known films, including A Million Colours and Kalushi: The Story of Solomon Mahlangu. His portrayal of the brutal crime lord Nkunzebomvu “Nkunzi” Mhlongo on the most watched television programme in South Africa, Uzalo, is, nevertheless, his most notable role. Additionally, he has made appearances in a number of TV shows, including Making Cents with the Sitholes, Rhythm City, Intersexions, Scandal!, Shreads and Dreams, and Shreads and Dreams.

He received his first television leading role in the telenovela “Ring of Lies” in 2016. He composed poetry for the South African national football team in 2004 during the AFCON competition in Tunisia. Additionally, he produced and authored promotional poetry for Ukhozi FM, the biggest radio station in South Africa. The multi-award-winning a cappella group Ladysmith Black Mambazo hosted the inaugural Cothoza Music Awards on June 22, 2019, with Masoja Msiza and Dudu Khoza presenting. [2]
