The IEB offers additional assessments for the following grade levels and subjects:
- Grade 9 Subject Specific Assessments
- Grade 11 IeBTs in Mathematics and Physical Sciences
- ACER International Benchmarking Tests including Reasoning
The Independent Examinations Board, or IEB, is a South African independent assessment agency which offers examinations for various client schools, mostly private schools. It is most prominent in setting examinations for the school-leaving National Senior Certificate, or NSC for its client schools
- The IEB Subject Specific Testsย (English and Afrikaans Home Language, and Mathematics)
- The Grade 9 Core Skills Test
- The International Benchmarking Tests

Grade 9 Subject Specific Tests The Grade 9 Subject Specific Tests are available in English or Afrikaans Home Language and Mathematics. These tests are usuallyย written in the first week of November. The Subject Specific Tests measure learnersโ ability in the essential knowledge and competencies deemed to be in place if Grade 9 learners are to meet the demands of the Further Education and Training Band.The cost of the tests is R160 per learner per subject written. The learnersโ scripts are marked by teachers at the participating schools using the marking guidelines which are provided online after 12pm on the day of the assessment. All scripts are returned to the IEB for the standardisation process. The IEB provides feedback to participating schools about the achievement of their learners as well as about the schoolโs performance in relation to the full sample of participating schools. |
