ABOUT THE COMPANY – KWADUKUZA MUNICIPALITY

The KwaDukuza Local Municipality is situated within the KwaZulu-Natal Province, in the iLembe District. The Municipality covers a range of area from the Zinkwazi River, to the Tongaat River. The Category B municipality is one of 4 municipalities that make up the district.

KwaDukuza was previously known as “Stanger”, named after William Stanger, a surveyor-general in South Africa, but in 2006 it was changed to “KwaDukuza” by the Minister of Arts and Culture. Today, the town is sometimes still referred to as Stanger.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & COVERAGE VALUE

KwaDukuza Municipality will be awarding bursaries within the following fields of study (undergraduate National Diploma or Degree only):

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
  • Architecture
  • Construction Management
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Town & amp; Regional Planning
  • Environmental Management
  • Horticulture
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Community and Economic Development studies
  • Accounting
  • Internal Auditing
  • Public Finance
  • Risk management
  • Logistics Management / Supply Chain Management
  • Property Valuation
  • Housing
  • Library Science
  • Performance Management/ Monitoring & amp; Evaluation
  • Legal
  • Local government management

The bursary will cover the following expenses: registration/ admission fees to the value of R5 000.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • Completed Matric
  • Reside within KwaDukuza Area of jurisdiction
  • Achieved University entrance/ endorsement in Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying full-time within one of the aforementioned undergraduate fields of study
  • Studying or intend on studying at a recognized public tertiary institution in South Africa
  • Have NOT been funded by NSFAS or any other form of funding
  • Strong academic record
  • In financial need
  • Previously disadvantaged student

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

Application forms must be collected from the following locations:
1) KwaDukuza Youth Centre: 41-42 Hullet Street, KwaDukuza, 4450
2) Libraries inside the KwaDukuza jurisdiction area
3) Other municipal offices
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate / statement of results (certified copy)
  • University endorsement (B/D) (certified copy)
  • Latest academic record, if currently at tertiary level (certified copy)
  • University admission requirements for your intended course, if you have not been accepted yet
  • Course curriculum (number of years of study, number of modules etc)
  • Quote for tuition fees from your university
  • Motivational letter (expressing why you deserve to be awarded the bursary)
  • Parents/ guardians proof of income and expenses (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed)
  • Parents/ guardians death certificates if deceased (certified copy)
  • Proof of residence
  • Recommendation letter from Operation Sukuma Sakhe War-Room or Social Workers (optional)
