ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP:
PathCare is one of the leading partnerships of pathologists in private practice across the country. Since 1992, PathCare has provided assistance to many healthcare professionals and doctors by confirming and determining diagnoses of patients. PathCare is registered with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) with all their laboratories being SANAS accredited.
The PathCare Academy for Training and development was first opened in 2006 with its goal being to overcome the shortages of skills in South Africa’s pathology sector. In 2020, PathCare aimed to further help students at their centre achieve and complete their programme despite all the disruptions and uncertainty the world faced. PathCare adapted to the pandemic by utilising the time to find more opportunities, update modules, improve programmes and improve the delivery of both methods and modules. Many of PathCare’s students maintain and achieve exceptional pass rates, with 97% of them passing the Health Professions Council exams since 2006. PathCare also values diversity and inclusivity, with 93% of their students being from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Academy offers a number of full-length programmes (running from 3 months to 2-years) that consist of certificate programmes, leadership, workplace experience programmes, work/study programmes, and internships- ensuring that every individual interested in this industry are able to acquire the necessary professional knowledge and skills. The programmes consist of theoretical, practical, and classroom training with qualified professionals working closely with the students. PathCare also ensures that students pay no tuition fees at the academy, but rather, receive a monthly stipend to work at PathCare in their chosen field while they learn and are under supervision.
