Eligibility Criteria
If you’re interested in applying for the bursary, here’s what you need to know about the eligibility criteria:
- You must be a South African citizen and identify as Black according to the BEE Act.
- Your household’s gross income should not exceed R30,000 per month, demonstrating a financial need.
- You shouldn’t be receiving any other financial support from other organisations for bursaries.
- In your motivation letter, you must demonstrate the capacity to make a positive impact upon completion of your studies.
- To be eligible, you must be a student at the University of Johannesburg studying engineering and the built environment.
- You need to be a full-time student, registered for either the second, third or fourth year in 2023.
- A minimum average of at least 65% in 2022 is required.

Fill in all fields of the form completely and accurately, as a failure to do so may lead to the rejection of your application.
Email the filled-in application form along with the required attachments to Ms. Emily Faro at emily@reatile.co.za. Mention “Reatile Foundation Trust Bursary 2023” in the email subject line.
Kindly ensure that all the necessary information and documents are submitted correctly to avoid any delays or rejection of your application.
Documents Required
Attach the following required documents to your completed application form:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Motivation letter to demonstrate your leadership capability on completion of your studies.
- Certified copy of your ID document
- An academic record with marks (not a certificate)
- Proof of the combined household gross income.
- Details of any other funding (scholarships or study loans), if any, that you have applied for.
- All invoices/cost estimates
Closing Date
The deadline for submitting your bursary application is 3 February 2023. Make sure to submit your application before this closing date to be considered for the opportunity.
