What is SAT

  • SAT stands for Scholastic Aptitude Test.
  • The SAT is a standardized examination that evaluates the mathematical, writing, and reading prowess of a student.
  • It is designed for high-school students looking for a college education, and the examination is meant to test the candidate’s ability to solve/analyze problems.
  • SAT Exam for US Colleges (Undergraduate courses).
  • Each section has been marked in the range of 200-800 points, and the final score ranges from 400-1600. Moreover, the written essay is scored on a scale of 0-24.

SAT Exam Eligibility:

  • In the US, students take the exam in their grades 11th or 12th (Junior and Senior).
  • There is no age limit.
  • But other SAT test eligibility requirements.
  • Students age roughly around 17-18 yrs old.
  • For International and Indian: The only acceptable form of identification is a valid passport with your name, photo, and signature.
  • One needs a debit/credit card with international currency support enabled so as to be able to register for the exam. College Board does not specify any age requirement; however, a valid Indian passport is required to appear in the SAT Exam.

SAT Fees:

  • The basic fee for the exam is $52, but it varies according to the country of the applicants.
  • For Indian applicants, the fee for SAT comes out to be $106 (with written essay), or $94 (without essay).
  • Apart from the general SAT, one can appear for subject SATs which can be useful under some circumstances.
  • The fee for subject SATs comes out to be $111, though the importance of subject tests is gradually decreasing in general.
