About Sibanye-Stillwater

Sibanye-Stillwater is a metal mining group producing a mix of metals that includes gold and platinum group metals (PGMs). The company is also the third-largest producer of palladium and platinum globally. Gold and PGM operations, as well as projects operated in South Africa and Zimbabwe, are housed in the Southern Africa region. The company’s PGM assets in the Southern Africa region are Kroondal, the Rustenburg Operations and the tailings retreatment entity, Platinum Mile in North West Province in South Africa and Mimosa in Zimbabwe.

Sibanye-Stillwater’s underground and surface gold mining operations in South Africa are the Cooke, Driefontein and Kloof in the West Witwatersrand region of Gauteng and the Beatrix in the southern Free State. Sibanye-Stillwater also owns gold extraction and processing facilities. The company has also several organic projects aimed at sustaining gold mining operations in the long term.

Sibanye-Stillwater Bursaries 2023

Sibanye-Stillwater awards bursaries every year to selected students in the local community and labor-sending areas for full-time study and opportunities in line with Sibanye’s business needs.

Bursaries will be awarded to female students, for studies at selected universities, in these fields of BSc, BTech, BEng Tech, BEng and NDipl in:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Finance
  • Geology
  • Instrumentation Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Metallurgy Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Rock Engineering
  • Survey

Universities that will be accepted are :

  • University of Johannesburg
  • University of Pretoria
  • University of the Witwatersrand and
  • North-West University

Sibanye-Stillwater Bursary Requirements and Eligibility

  • Must reside within Kloof Labour sending Area or local community
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be studying or  intend on studying at one of these tertiary institutions: the University of Johannesburg, University of the Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria or North-West University
  • Must be studying or registered to study at one of these institutions: University of Pretoria, University of Johannesburg, University of the Witwatersrand or North-West University
  • Must have achieved a university acceptance pass in Matric, with a minimum APS of 23
  • Must have achieved a minimum result of 60% for English in Matric
  • Must have achieved a minimum result of 60% for Mathematics in Matric
  • Must have achieved a minimum result of 60% for Physical Science in Matric
  • Must be studying or intend on studying towards one of the qualifications listed above, in 2023
  • Must be medically fit
