Where and when was Thapelo Sebogodi born?
Thapelo Sebogodi was born in 1988 in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province in South Africa. He is the eldest son of the veteran actor Seputla Sebogodi. His siblings are; Kgothatso, Sebogodi his little brother and only girl Thabang. Thapelo was raised in Johannesburg but later moved to Cape Town to pursue a career in acting. He returned to Johannesburg after accomplishing his Cape Town mission.
Thapelo suffered as a child with his father’s fame, especially after Seputla rose to recognition thanks to his main role in the popular comedy show Suburban Bliss. He spent most of his childhood watching his father in theatre and he never thought or dreamed of becoming an actor by that time.
“After school I’d have to wait for my dad at the theatre or go with him on set,” Thapelo recalls. “All my school holidays were spent on the set of a movie or in theatre. I hated being there.” [1]

He attended his high school and other basic education schools in Johannesburg. Upon completing his matric, Thapelo Tshwane University of Technology to Study drama.
Acting career of Thapelo Sebogodi
After finishing his studies at TUT, Thapelo started to audition for television roles. During these auditions, he never used his father’s reputation to land roles. In 2012 Thapelo made his television debut on SABC1’s reality series Life’s a Stage. After that he appeared on several dramas and television serials before working with his father. [2]
The two worked together and shared the stage in Flak My Son, which played at the State Theatre in Pretoria. He featured on SABC1 reality series Life’s a Stage, which documents the cast of the play Trapped as they go to the Grahamstown and Saltzburg theatre festivals. He became very prominent after appearing on Mzansi Magic drama The River as Khabzela from season 1 to season 5.

After that the following year he appeared on a television series called Outlander about an English combat nurse from 1945 is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743.

Thapelo is the firstborn son of the veteran actor Seputla Sebogodi aka Kenneth Mashaba. His father wanted him to become a pilot because he had great matric results but Thapelo chose acting. His father had no choice but to support him.
