POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES IN CHEMISTRY TO BE ADVERTISED FOR
ADMISSION FOR 2019/2020 ACADEMIC YEAR

  1. Master of Science in Chemistry (By Taught Courses and Research)
    Eligibility
    The applicants must possess:
    (i) A Bachelor of Science/Bachelor Science with Education degree with credit
    or better with Chemistry as a major subject of the University of Zambia or
    its equivalent from a recognized University; and
    (ii) Must have taken at least six full (or 12 half) third and fourth year level
    chemistry courses from analytical/ inorganic/ organic/ physical/
    biochemistry with an average grade of at least B.
    (iii) Applicants who have Bachelor’s degree with a Pass but have a minimum of
    two (2) years relevant experience may also be considered, conditions apply.
  2. Master of Science in Chemistry (By research)
    Eligibility:
    The applicants must possess:
    (i) A Bachelor of Science degree with merit or better of the University of
    Zambia or its equivalent from a recognized University with a major in
    Chemistry; and
    (ii) Must have taken sufficient analytical, inorganic, organic, physical and
    biochemistry courses at third and fourth year level with an average B+ grade
    or better.
    (iii) Applicants with a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience may
    also be considered, conditions apply.
    Applicants for this programme should contact the Department first, for further information.
  3. Pre MSc in Chemistry
    Eligibility:
    The applicants must possess:
    (i) A Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Science with Education degree with
    credit or better from the University of Zambia or its equivalent from a
    recognized University with a major in Chemistry; and
    (ii) At least three full (or six half) third year level chemistry courses and one
    full (or two half) fourth year level chemistry courses from analytical/
    2
    inorganic/ organic/ physical/biochemistry with an average grade of at least
    B.
    (iii) Applicants with a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience may
    also be considered, conditions apply.
  4. Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry
    Eligibility:
    The applicants must possess:
    (i) A Bachelor of Science or BScED degree from a recognized University with
    a major in Chemistry with at least a credit; and
    (ii) A Master degree from a recognized University in Chemistry or related field.
    Applicants for PhD programme should contact the Department for further information, such
    as availability of supervision and necessary facilities, before applying.
